Respones to Nikoleta's Blog Post

Vine was one of those social media companies that had a great concept to it and influenced the way we communicate with the world whether it’s for entertainment purposes or to achieve a specific agenda. It was tragic for anyone who loved Vine to witness its eventual demise. The simple seven-second videos of Vine obviously could not compete with companies that contained more variety. Nonetheless, as Nikoleta mentioned in her blog post, the fame of many popular viners did not end with the app they initially started their social media careers with. Many went on to be stars of other big named social media brands specifically Instagram, Twitter, or YouTube. This is what was probably best for them anyway as their creativity couldn’t merely be limited to what Vine had to offer. For example, there are the Paul brothers. Logan Paul and Jake Paul initially gained a lot of attention for their Vines that were absolutely hilarious. After Vine collapsed both of the Paul brothers went on to make YouTube channels where they have each gained over fifth teen million subscribers. They also each generate at least one million dollars in revenue from their YouTube posts, a cash flow that they could not have earned from just making Vine videos. Recently the Paul brothers have dabbled into rapping. I had listened to some of their songs and had to stop listening before my ears began to bleed, but hopefully, there are people in the world who will enjoy their music. Overall, I very much enjoyed Nikoleta’s blog post, and I’m glad she mentioned how people who used Vine are still putting their creative ideas to good use. Even as Vine died, it should always be recognized as a great app for its ability to make people famous through simple seven-second videos, and eventually evolving them into entertainers who cater to a much larger audience.

  1. It's interesting that the nostalgia factor is so prominent in our relationship to Vine. Why would the demise of vine seem to cement its status?

  2. I also mentioned the Paul brothers, but more about Logan's embarrassing enterprise in Japan.
